Default please help girl with tranny problem

hi,

new here and have a question.I have a 1995 dodge ram 318 engine.

I was driving it for about 20 miles then it started slipping a little ,stopped and put a quart of fluid in. started out fine then after about 10 seconds
it would not move at all .turned the engine off ,waited a minute and turned back on .it moved forward for about 10 seconds then stopped again. same thing in reverse. what could be wrong? update+truck sat for about a hour then tried to move it and it went about a mile then quit again.

please if you have any ideas let me know.

thanks
tiffany

has the tranny ever been rebuilt before or been changed? or is it the original tranny? are the fluids all full? sounds to me like you need a new one.

The transmission's overfilled ... drain the quart out and start over. Too much fluid foams and foam = mostly air. The system can't run on air. You wait a while ... the foam dies down ... start it up, drive a bit, foam builds up, quits again.

Fill the tranny 1 pt at a time.

You do know how to check transmission fluid level, yes?

For those who don't:

Make sure the transmission is at operating temperature.
Park the vehicle as levelly as you can.
Set the brake.
Slowly cycle through the gears ... P R N D 2 1 and then back ... 2 D N R P ... pausing for a second or two at each spot. This makes sure all the little nooks and paths are filled.
Put the selector in "N".
NOW check the stick.

That is unless you get the shift kit in it that allows fluid flow and TC charge in park!

Good step by step though!
