Does anyone know if the dist has to come out to pull the intake off of a 1997 318?

im 99% sure you have to pull it out. its pretty simple, just pull the cap off and mark where the rotor is with a paint pen. i usually put it on #1TDC , and mark the distributor body , and the manifold all inline with where the rotor lines up. then when you put it in if you line up the marks it will be close enough to run, and ou'll just need to double check and most likely adjust the timing. its definately more intimidating to think about than it is to do.

no it does not have to come off!if you do take it off it could only be 180 degree out
the bottom is the oil pump drive of the cam,it will never bolt down if you dont take out the oil pump drive,thats the only way it will bolt up!!PM me if you need,isuck at this and will give you a phone number.
