Default New to Dodge's

hey everyone, just recently bought a 97 dodge 1500 ext cab 4x4. sport. it has 105,000 miles and women driven. leather interior, in good shape. i bought it for 3,000 from a buddy's parents. Was this a good price? i think it was for a perfectly good full size truck. well i've never been a dodge fan, but the price was right and i got to start liking it ha. but is there anything i need to loook out for with this truck? anything that would make it better or where is a good place to buy parts for dodge. thanks

You might start looking under the door to see if rust is starting to form.

There are a few things that happen from time to time on our trucks. Here are just a few to get you started!

1. Plenum leak (sucking oil from the lifter valley into the intake)
2. Cracked heads between the intake and exhaust ports
3. Trans Rebuild (If it hasn't been rebuilt yet then it will probably soon need it)
4. "Random Cylinder Misfire" (There is a TSB Spark Plug re-routing out there to take care of this one)
5. etc.

I hope this helps. Welcome to DF

"Woman driven" isn't necessarily a good thing. There are probably other exceptions to this rule, but I find all the women I know with one exception do not look at anything on their instrument cluster except the speedo. The oil gauge could show zero pressure, and they wouldn't have a clue. All the trouble lights in the world could be on, and they wouldn't notice. My wife, bless her heart, notices trouble lights, but she never looks at the other gauges.

I would make sure the tranny is shifting well. Some of us here have the trannies last for 200,000 miles, some 40,000 miles. I'm almost at 70,000 myself, and not a single transmission issue (knock on wood).

If ya ever need help, and ya can't find it with the search link up top of this page, go ahead and ask. Most of us won't bite.

I don't think they look at the speedo either. That's why they have cleavage.
