I have gibson headers. Had a set of the gibson black painted headers. Those were ****. Now i have gibson stainless steel ceramic coated, things are amazing. You dont need to install anything else with the 1.7rr, no new cam no other junk. Point of the 1.7s is to trick your engine into thinkin you have a mild cam in there. No need for anything else.

There ain't nothing wrong with the 318. It's a good motor and can haul ***... you just need to learn how to drive that thing!

You can find just as many upgrades for the 5.2 as you can for the 5.9. And what is the big deal about the 5.7 Hemi? Big deal. I test drove a Hemi and when I punched it heck my 360 has more ballz then that! Don't get me wrong I like the 5.7's but they are WAY overrated.

The 318 is probably the better motor.

depends on purprosed.. Reliablitly yes hands down..power Cubics take ultimate place there(5.9) but that being said..that 5.2 is def a big power house waiting to be unleashed. I mean.. look at what power is being thrown down with 5.0 in mustangs (yes i know...diff engine diff application) but youve got more cubic inches here so..well yeah u know what im getting at. Besides all that too...its just a good engine.

Yeah but theres a limit to what tha size engine can produce. Cubic inches in the end takes threshold. Plus is easier to make more power with a larger engine, and easier on the engine. As in throwing a blower on the 5.2, gonna be more stress on the 5.2 than on the 5.9. and if set up correctly should produce more power.

Im talking bout the capablities of the engines, not what theyre producing now. If your gonna look at it that way..then theres tons of cars with v6 or inline 4s that produce more power as ours stand now.

As far as i know the 4.0 in an xterra does not make 300 ft-lbs. that being said, the 09 5.7 hemi makes 390 hp/ 410 tq and its 2 tenths smaller than the magnum so your on to something. I guess if you took it to some insane extreme the 5.9 could make more power than the hemi but the hemi makes easier power (its hard to beat 390 out of the box). However as i've said before i think the hemi is a race motor not a truck motor. the real truck motor was the 360. But the 360 is only slightly better (if we are talkin hp) than the 318 anyway. my 318 was not even a fender slower than my friends 360 truck with the same configuration and mods (yet i got 3-5 mpg better avg.) only difference you can feel between the 318 and 360 is towing and its not real obvious at all.

yeah exactly, its all in the configuration of the motor. But way back in the HP wars, it was shown that bigger in the end has larger capablities. Still shows here today to lol but yeah anywho, back to the topic at hand. The 5.2 is easy to configure and make good numbers. No real difference at these levels than the 5.2
