Hey im Scott and i bought a 2000 Ram 5.2L V8 short box reg cab with 233000km on it and am looking to do some performance (preferably to increase MPG) mods but dont know what? Truck is basically stock except cherry bomb glass pack on it Pioneer deck and alpine 6x9's. I am 17 so money is kinda tight so i would like to start off with the cheap stuff first. Thanks

Truth be told, there really isnt much you can do to get more mileage out of these trucks, aside from driving with less throttle, and maintainance.
Clean out your throttle body, clean your sensors, fluids, all your basic tune up stuff. All that will net you probably 1-2mpg. That about does it though. Since day 1 my truck has gotten 12mpg.

The cheapest "mods" you can do would be a tune-up, as Viper mentioned. Also, replace your plug wires, plugs, dist. cap and rotor, etc. All the little stuff adds up, may get you 1-2 mpgs.
HP is not necessarily cheap. The only "cheap" upgrade I can think of off the top of my head that some guys on here love is the 14x3 open element intake (search for the thread "FIPK no more" or something along those lines), which doesn't improve HP that much, but does improve acceleration. About $50-ish, maybe a little less, maybe a little more.

I got 14mpg highway this weekend and I was happy...if that tells you anything about the mileage aspect. Just start from square one like anything. Tune-up, fluid changes, thorough inspection, etc. Then get some sort of intake and exhaust...and go from there. Search around this forum and you will find a plethera of info.
