beautiful truck, but i've never seen anything like that. I had a GMC S-15 Jimmy that was bought new from the factory by a conversion van-type company and made changes, maybe its something like that?
howdy.
it looks to me like just a fancy paintjob on a run of the mill 97 ram. its true that dodge did not make a step side, but its not true that it was special built at the factory. factories specialize in efficiency and profit, nothing else. that was either done as a show truck, or maybe just somebodys custom body work.
are you thinking about buying it, or just shooting the breeze. if you're think about buying it, its probably a nice clean truck, maybe a little overpriced hopefully the transmission's been rebuilt and the plenum and trackbar replaced.
it sort of reminds me of the burt reynolds truck awhile back...

I call bullsh!t ... in the mid 90's, there was a custom fab shop making fiberglass stepside beds for the 2nd gen rams. What happened to them, I have no idea ... but I'm sure that they were installed by some people.
Here's another:

DHV is right ... factories, with few exceptions, don't do custom work. The paint's a give away. This one looks like a Chevy Mariah custom.

It was precisely a '89 2 door. it had a 'Top Gun' package: white body w/ grey rockers, custom 'Top Gun' badges, front and rear fiberglass bumper covers, side skirts, and a fake hood scoop with 'Top Gun' badges. Interior was stock. she was still pretty tho =] i looked around a while ago on the net, only found reference to one other 'Top Gun' Jimmy.
other than the hood scoops it sounds awesome, and i just came to shoot the breeze with the rams for awhile

I'd like to see the VIN for this truck. 1 off trucks or cars for that matter (on of a kind) get marked so to prove that they are in fact factory built that way. This guys blowin' smoke up EVERYONE'S A$$. To top it all off, that, in my humble opinion, suck major ***. It looks like it came out of a crappy body shop in Tijuana, Mexico.
