notanexit, Do you get about the same gas mileage with your straight piped dual exhaust setup as with a stock setup? or as before? Did u gut the cat or do a y-pipe? and one last question, how loud is it in the cab and just in general?

Depends on what your going for. If it was me (which this is im going to do) id order the krc 210x cam and HS 1.6 RR. I still havent checked to see if 1.7RR would cause a problem with the valves or not. If they dont, then id stick with the 1.7s.

I'm not looking for huge power gains since it's a 5.2L. It is simply on ongoing project. All trucks I own are a project for me to learn all there is about them and what can and can't be done to improve certain parts of the vehicle.

This is my Ram's future mods so far. It will take a while to purchase all of it, but I'm young and have nothing but time. Besides my friends all have cars.

Transmission Cooler
Autometer Transmission Gauge
Mag-hytec deep transmission pan
Ranch Hand Brush Guard with KC Lights
Fastman 50mm Throttle Body
Hughes Plenum upgrade kit
33" Firestone Destination M/T tires
Aussie Locker in front D44 axle
Truetrac Locker in rear 9.25" axle
K&N Cold Air intake
Summit Racing shorty Headers
1.7 Harland Sharp Roller Rockers
Upgrade from 3.55 to 4.10s

Uh I went to the straight pipe setup about 2 years after i bought the truck in 99 and if my memory is correct i think i actually gained an extra mpg according to the little overhead console. The cat is only 3 years old and works fine, havent gutted it or taken it off....yet. As for the noise, you can definatly hear it in the cab which is music to my ears and it's a little bit louder in the rear seat. You'll definatly turn heads when your going down the street even if you barely pressing the pedal. I'm lucky enough to live in a county that doesnt require an emmissions test so i said to hell with expensive mufflers.

I ran my truck straight pipe after the cat and really liked it a lot then changed my mind and cut the cat off. Since I have the 5.2L it didn't have enough back pressure and had some occasional valve rattle. All went away after I replaced the whole exhaust and have the magnaflow cat now. I agree to the sound of straight pipe after the cat. IMO I would leave it as is. Changing the exhaust a bunch of times gets expensive, I should know.

i like how this turned into an exhaust thread haha. did putting the magnaflow cat on make any difference in the sound. i've just got a universal one.

It's okay it turned into an exhaust thread. My OP was answered with ending post #20. Yeah I have a different sound but I also have a cherry bomb glasspack on it now. The only difference is price. I needed a direct fit since I made so many changes I ran out of pipe to properly weld a universal too.
