It happens at start-up (when warm), when put in gear, and if in first or reverse, when you accelerate and let off the gas. Does that still sound like an O2 sensor?

if your going to clean it, use CRC Electronic component cleaner... found at any auto parts store. Spray the holes in the tip real good, let it dry, then re-install. cleaning the outside will do no good and it does not matter what it looks like. the important part is inside and may need a couple of cleanings if it is really gunked up.
