i wouldn't junk yard a unit bearing, their inexpensive, and you'd have to go thru the process of pulling one out, which would be a bitch
yea and like hutch said don't drive on it, i did...and it locked up on me, lucky i was on my way to the farm to fix it and was limping it down a back road...with the unit bearing and stub shaft [long story] sitting in the cab right next to me

the dynapak is a fine bearing, i have them in both the left and right, the right side didn't fail, i had it replaced as cheap *** insurance when i had the ball joints done, by a shop that rebuilt the motor on the combine, so i think i can trust them

back on subject, if you don't have a haynes or chiltons manual, buy one, mines my bible when i work on my Dodge, and my cherokee

you are asking for trouble by going with a junkyard bearing because they will probably be bad anyways... go to any auto parts store they should have it call ahead if you want to double check. It is a straight forward install... take off wheel, brakes, rotor. Then you have to break loose the nut on the end of the axle shaft it is a 1 11/16 nut and tight as a mo fo the best thing is a 3/4 inch impact gun... you might be able to do it with a big breaker bar but good luck. then you have to take off the three bolts in the back of the hub which are 9/16 or 14 mm 12 point bolts... you will most likely need a breaker bar for these... then with a hammer and chisel you need to separate the hub from the spindle... then re install the new one. If you have any questions do a search on it there are thousands of posts on how to do this... hope it helped.

be careful if its on the left side, the big nut may be a left hand thread, mine was, thats why i have a new stubshaft

did u jack the front of the truck up and wiggel the wheels, to see if they have movment, if so have someone get under there when u do it, and see what is moving, cause it could just be the wheel bearing falling apart

yeah we did that.. im almost 100% sure its the wheel bearing.. but its easier to buy the hub and bearing assembly then it is to just buy bearings and press them in.. yeah i saw a step by step with pics on pavementsucks.com seemed to help. and maroonmonster and silver ram thanks for the help. you guys no ur sh*t. tomorrow before work im gonna start taking stuff apart.. im sure being that ur 95 (maroon) is a left hand thread im sure mine will be as well on a 96. Im gonna have to get an impact gun.. not sure from where yet.. i cant afford one so i gotta find one to borrow.

yea my dad and i had a massive breaker bar, with a cheater [big *** pipe] on it, and it went down hill from there [not enough brain, and too much brute lol, if i cant make it work, i revert to caveman like actions]

you cant press new bearings in the old hub, once you buy a new unit bearing/hub assembly, you'll see why
