Yeah... Thats right... My truck is still in the shop...

The transmission had exploded, so he had to replace EVERYTHING inside.. so it's done and ready to go.. but when took the oil pan down, to replace the oil pump, guess what? one of the pushrods had also twisted and snapped, and so now, it's also getting a used motor..

so, the total now is

Rebuild on Transmission- $600 w/1yr warranty
Used Motor - $500 w/30 day warranty
Labor to install -$600
_______________________________
$1700
Price of truck $2200
_____________________________
total investment $3900

That is for a 2000 Ram 1500 Club cab, not too bad I guess... Just still, DANG... I still aint got to drive it....

Oh, and on the job front, I had 2 interviews with a company now, and they are scheduling the drug test and stuff, so it looks like I might be getting a job.. so maybe my crap magnet is finally going away.. and things will start working out better for a while... I hope so..
Anyway... Should have the truck next week.. but then it's been that same story for over 3 months now.. hahaha

For all the work being done, either they aren't really doing it, or you are getting a freaking steal. That is an unbelievable price for that amount of work.

well, I went and saw him at the shop, and he showed me the tranny, and the parts they took out..

And showed me the engine, and the busted pushrod..

He isn't charging me any more for labor since he took so long getting started on it..

And he has connections gettin me the motor for $500.. so yeah, I'm gettin a steal, and will keep this guy on speed dial..

I cant wait to get it back... BTW, turns out the tranny that was in my truck, was a junk yard special, that came out of a 98 van... Hows that for some crap..

Wow. You might consider selling for $4,000 and get something with a better history. Sounds like with your new job, you will be able to trade up to something better.

+1 for what Rex said.

Congrats on the job. Drug tests cost companies money, so I'm pretty sure if they scheduled you for a drug test, you have a job.

Congrats on the job. Well at least you know that your truck will last for quite some time.

yeah, I have people tellin me to sell it, and get what I can outta it... But, like others said, I now know it will be a truck that will last some time... I mean, with a full rebuild on the tranny, and the motor, I know it will be a good running truck, that I wont have to worry about for a while. And for only having $3900 in it, I am still well below book on it. SO, I think I'll just keep it for a while.. Besides, it's a 2nd gen, and thats my favorite... And Yes, I am DIEING to drive it... not much longer now... and it's all mine... And it will be all paid for too... that alone is worth it's weight to me.. and it weighs allot..

you twisted a pushrod or a connecting rod? A pushrod shouldn't be a full motor rebuild?
