Default Kegger mod questions

Hey, I finally managed to get that damn intake manifold off my '96, but it doesn't match everyone else's. The divider has some sort of port going down half of it. Is it safe to cut off?

You mean something like a wall? That is the center divider. Remove it.

Unfortunantly the manifold is soaking in degreaser right now... it seems like it'd be for EGR, but my van doesn't use egr

I only have one picture, and it's hard to visualize

That's looking down through the throttle body bore. The divider is the left side of the picture. You can see a part bulging out with a hole

Gave the manifold another good scrubbing and spraydown ... brake cleaner seems to work better than heavy-duty degreaser. go figure. At least it's on sale at o'reilly for $1.25 a can.

Sorry for anybody on dialup, big images.

You can see something on the center divider, and it bulges to one side towards the edge, where it becomes something else that's been capped off in the factory.

Since it has holes in it already (towards the end in the middle of the manifold), it should be safe to cut off completely, right? It's not like it'll create a new vacuum leak removing it.

Also, since I have the 5.2L, don't I only cut off maybe 1-2" of the divider, rather than the whole thing?

And finally... yikes: http://www.ahanix.org/etc/dodge/engi...d/101_0249.JPG

Ok, two things.

1) Dakotas Ram, what does the blue script in your sigimg say? Lol I can't tell... Almost looks like "By ain't squirrels"

2) Intake gasket kit came with two cork pieces, but I can't tell where they're supposed to go! Old ones didn't stay put while I was trying to wrestle the heater bypass hose

its " by aim4squirrels" i saked for a photoshop of a white grill and this is what i got ...he is a member on here....a little slow, but good intentions

the corks go at the front and the back of the intake on the bottom.....just play with them until they match where your intake sits down..... i believe there are small holes in them that line up to some on the block.....also remember to put rtv in the corners where the cork meets the rest of the gasket when reinstalling
