1 ton axle swap
So im looking into taking out my 1/2 ton axles and finding some 1 tons. I was looking on some site and someone with the same truck put in some from a 98, He was saying try get a 98 1/2 + or the it will have a 32 spline in the dana 60 front instead of 30
So if i was to find a 98.5+ 1 ton axles (dana 60 front, dana 70 rear if im correct) should i be able to bassically drop the 1/2 ton out the transfer everything over to the 1 tons and then bolt the 1 tons right up?
Should anything need to be changed, The guy that did it said that the dana 70 rear has a much longer pinion so that would push my drive shaft back up a little since i got a 5 inch lift
But should the leaf springs and shock mounts and all that be the same, I dont know if ill find some with leaf springs or if it will be bone stock. the leafs i have now are the 2.5 inch wide ones and i think the 1 tons have the 3 inch. or so it says when i ws looking into an add a leaf

I have not done it (yet), but I have researched enough about it to know what is entailed.
Everything will basically bolt right up suspension wise. The rear springs are 3" wide on the 1 tons, so the spring pads will be a little wider than your half ton springs, but it will still work. They also changed cam bolt sizes in the front control arms somewhere around '99 or so, so that may mess with ya too.
And yes, the drive shafts will most likely need the lengths changed. And while you are at it, have the ujoint size changed so you don't have to get some conversion type joint to make i work.
Search on PS, theres so much info on this over there it will make your head spin.
