Default Ticking sound.... CAT problem?

When running, my truck makes a constant ticking sound. its the 316 motor. the engine sounds great but if i lay inder the truck while its running, the exhaust makes a ticking noise. its somewhere behind the front tires where the noise is coming from the exhaust i think? is this the cat or o2 sensor? what can i do to fix it? btw, im not getting any bad readings on my dash or anything like that and it runs great, its just bothering me and i want to fix it before it does any damage. thanks guys

no major issue.. exhaust leak. check your manifolds make sure all the bolts r there.. if they are.. take her to an exhaust shop have em look.. it could be a small hole in a pipe or anything.. mine does the same thing.. i have to replace my manifold gasket and fix 2 snapped off bolts. but im waiting for now.

I bet you have a 318 engine.

Ticking could be caused by broken insulation of a spark plug wire, a sticking lifter, or even an injector.

You might just look around at the fittings. Especially if it is an after market exhaust that has been clamped on. Sometimes when those clamps are torqued down, they can almost "dent", or "crimp" the end of the pipe causing a leak.

You might try starting it up when its COLD and apply a soapy water type solution and apply it to where you think its leaking. That should help you find it, until the exhaust starts to get hot and then it wont help.
