Default Dakota 5.9 R/T Heads

just wondering if anybody knew of any differences between the R/T heads and our standard 5.9 heads. i have the chance to buy some cheap (from a 99 ,same as my truck) and maybe keep them to build another engine some day, maybe a stroker?
Thanks.

There is no difference between the dakota r/t heads and the standard magnaum heads.

Genuine r/t heads have r/t stamped on them under the exhaust port on one end. (right side IIRC). Those heads are much better than the stockers.

I hate to say it steve but you basically just contradicted yourself. You said there are no differences but that the stock R/T heads are better. Huh? Do you mean that they are just tougher and made better and therefore resist the notorious cracking that the magnum heads do while at the same time having all the same dimensions?

he said he has a chance to buy some heads off an R/T truck, those heads are the same as the ones on every other production mag motor. the real R/T heads run $1200 & up. those heads are different. The Dakota with the R/T package DOES NOT have genuine r/t heads...

I dont see how I contradicted myself in the original reply... sorry for any confusion...

no they are iron and are cast differently. the stockers are known to crack between the valve seats. there is a newer casting that does not crack and will outflow the r/t's with some machining. and are about $500 bux cheeper last time I checked.

the edelbrocks are aluminum...

Learn something new every day. I thought the Dakota R/T came with genuine R/T
heads. Hmm..... that seems kinda messed up to me, like false advertising.

Steve, please don't think I was trying to insult you. I just thought what you were saying was kinda confusing. Thank you for helping to clear it up. Unlike some other people on here, I am not trying to stir problems or anything, just trying to get the facts straightened out.

So once again, thank you Steve for further explaining what you meant by your statement!
