Default fuel pump

My fuel pump just gave out today, and my friend had bought one for his truck about 2 months ago but he has a 5.2, I was wondering if there is any difference between the 5.2 and 5.9 fuel pump? (his is a 96)

no difference for engine, but i think there is a difference for 26 gal tank vs 35 gal tank. check an online site like rockauto or autozone, etc to see if they list the same part numbers for each truck.

I don't think it will work. The 96 has a returnless fuel system (1 line) and runs at a higher pressure.
