I run the open because top end seems better and thats mostly what I run (highway). I do think low end is better with the stock intake though. Even though I run the open, I keep the stocker in the toolbox just in case I ever plan to run through the mud. To answer the OP's question... it isn't going to hurt to swap back to the old to compair them. See what works better for you and thats what you should choose.
If you want to compare them great, but the stock air box sucks compared to whats offered
in the aftermarket. K&N, Spectre, Volant, Airaid, ect. will flow better than what Dodge
slaps on.
i don't see a damn thing wrong with the stock one.
I also like the stock airbox and I'll raise you one...I run a paper filter which I change often. Threw the brand new looking K&N that came with the truck on the shelf in my garage. I don't trust those "filters".

nobody really knows that for sure...i mean when you think about, whats so different between the stock box and say, my spectre CAI. there wasnt a damn bit of difference when it came down to the "numbers" if you will, except for the fact that it looked pretty. thats it.
