Injector Cleaning

Injector Cleaning
I've been thinking about taking my '99 1500 (52,000 miles) to the dealer to have the injectors and all the lines thoroughly cleaned. They do the service for $140.
Has anyone had this done, and does it make any difference?
Are there any tank-added injector cleaners that actually work worth a crap?
Thanks.

RE: Injector Cleaning
yeah, bg44k is what they use to clean injectors... they also throw it in the tank before it leaves their shop. What I'd do is go get seafoam, run your tank down to about 1/4 of a tank, then dump in a can of sea foam and run it until it's close to empty. that wil clean your injectors and your combustion chamber...

RE: Injector Cleaning
I've used BG44k before, but only in the tank. It's pretty expensive, but I didn't really feel any improvement. The dealer said that it is more of a preventative measure when applied only to the tank. To really get the system clean, you have to do the full BG44k system high pressure flush/cleaning (or something like that).
What is seafoam, and were do you get it?

RE: Injector Cleaning
Some autoparts stores have the sea foam stuff (but not all)... its used for many things, one of which is to clean you combustion chamber. if you use it in the tank with a smaller amount of fuel, it's more concentrated and should help clean the injectors better. another thing to consider is if you already use good gas you may not need the cleaner since most of the good stuff has additives in it to prevent clogged injectors. I use Union 76 and Chevron (when 76 is unavailable) and have never had any injector issues to my knowledge.
you can use the BG stuff on a low tank as well
