I have a 96 Ram 1500 4x4 with a 5.2L it was going down the road and just shut down. There is no fuel pressure, no spark and no scan tool communication with the pcm, the check engine light doesn't come on either. the asd and fuel pump relays have been changed out along with the pcm and still nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

since the gas sending unit can go at anytime...are you sure you have plenty of gas?

 

Ya there is plenty of fuel in the tank. I have jumped one side of the fuel pump relay and got fuel pressure at the fuel rail. But there is still no fire to the plugs and no scan tool communication.

 

Start from basics.
Spray some carb cleaner down the throttle body - try to start. If it starts - fuel pump issue.
If you have aftermarket ignition coil - get rid of it (all aftermarket coils - MSD, ACCEL for these trucks are junk - at least from my experience) put stock one back on. Pull the spark plug wire and check for spark.
I had a very similar thing happened to me twice, it was the coil. Once MSD, the other ACCEL. I'm back to stock setup - no problem.
