1998 1500 Ram, 5.9L 5 speed manual 4x4, 163k.

I'm having a hard time getting it to go into 1st or 2nd when stopped. Shifts fine when moving (some times 5th seems to stick when coming off the highway). I usually have to shift into 3rd or 4th to "line things up" and then it goes into 1st and second with no resistance. Even if I shut the motor off and work the clutch it still will not slip into gear until I get it in one of the others. Once in a while I can pump the clutch with engine running and it will let me shift into 1st, but 3rd/4th seem to be the sweet spots.

Any ideas? I plan to change the fluids shortly and check shifter alignment.
