Relay
ok so tonight i bought a pair of KC Daylighters, part #233 black housing 100W lights with wiring harness,...seems simple enough to install but i do have one question....it DIDNT come with a relay, but ive seen where people have used 30,40 Amp relays on the same 12V - 100W set-up....so im wondering if i need to go buy one?....and im not too smart when it comes to lighting and i dont even know HOW to wire a relay into the directions....any insight will be greatly appreciated
I had the same question, but got it answered in my rollbar thread... a heavy duty switch should work ok I guess

hey man im an electrician and we just wired in some flashing lights on our carts and mini trucks at work and a couple of vans. the easiest way to do it is to buy the right amped switch but you still need a relay for them to work properly. go buy you a 30 amp relay for your lights at any part store doesnt have to be really expensive or anything just something simple. Its easy to wire in if you look at the relay it has a diagram for the prongs on the end of the relay one with be a ground, constant 12v, and then your switch. just make sure when you pick up your power dont pull of anything else just run a fresh new wire out of your fuse box under the hood or from the battery just put a fuse link in inbetween the batter and the relay on your power wire. make sure you have a very good ground as well. on the relay just put it somewhere where it will stay dry zip tie it up under the dash. easy to replace that way to cuz if it goes bad only three wires to unhook and swap for new and then rehook your wires back in.
okay, thanks it sounds simple enough....im not sure what the rating is on the switch it came with...it came with the inline tap for a 20A fuse to go between the battery and switch, so should i just keep the same set up the box says but put the inline fuse between the battery and relay, then go relay to switch?
