Default Heat problems?

So the other day, on the way home from work, my check engine light came on. At first it didn't do anything, but then it started to chug a little bit. A couple days later, it ran fine in the morning, but then on the way home from work again, the light came on. But this time, it started chugging, but then whenever i would give it gas, the rpms would drop to almost nothing. If i just barely pressed the gas pedal, it would accelerate, but only very slightly, and when idling, it idled a little bit low, but then started revving itself up, varying between about 750 rpms to about 1000, all pressures/temps fine. I took it home and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then checked all my fluids, which were fine, and then cranked it up, and it ran fine. i took it out, ran perfectly. Today, it started doing it again after i drove around a good bit, and died twice, once sitting at a stop light and once while pulling into my friend's driveway. My power steering quit, the engine stopped, but it immediately cranked back up. Again, let it sit for a few minutes, and got all the way home (app. 20 miles), though it still did act up, just didn't die.

So..... any ideas on what this could be? I live in South Carolina, and its just started getting hotter recently.

sounds like to me you have a bad fuel pump issue. you said all the gauges are fine so you are not over heating correct.
i would check the fuel pressure or change out the pump.

do the ignition switch check. on,off on,off on and read the cel blinks and tell us what the codes are.

fuel pump? sounds possible, though i personally think that it's something electrical. maybe the connection to the fuel pump?

ran the code (pain in the butt to interpret), checked em in the book, got 12, 13, 14, 37 (not a code for my truck?!) and a couple others (dont remember right now, may check again later). the codes for 13 and 14 were both similar problems, and 37 was, on the diesel code, a tranny temp problem. it's greatly possibly i misread em, but thats what i got.

My dad told me about a problem he had with his 92ish dodge, where it would screw up when it got heated up, ended up being a wire separating when it expanded with the heat. i kinda think it's something to this extent, or at least something to do with electrics.

will take to advance tomorrow, get em to check the codes, post the results.

MAP sensor? the codes that matched were both about map sensors, and i went to autozone, and they couldnt scan for codes, since its a 1995, but the guy seemed to think that the MAP sensor sounds about right. opinions?

and, if you think it is the MAP sensor, where is it? i have a picture in a haynes manual, but it's kind of difficult to understand.
