Anyone know how to get this d a m n overdrive piston retainer off of the intermediate shaft?

I dont see a snap ring inside of it at all, and in the manual it shows the piston retainer sliding off of the intermediate shaft.

Since I dont have pictures and to refresh anyones memory the piston retainer bolts on to the back of the transmission between the main case and the overdrive unit. Let me know what you think Thanks
