Default Center cap problem for stock 20" rims???

I have the first style dodge 20" rims on my 2nd generation ram. Bought some caps for the centers since the rims didn't have them on when i bought them. They are the correct caps as well as the newer style due to the old ones coming loose and popping out. They don't fit and snap in. I went to the dealership today and he said they are the right caps and even looked them up. He sells them every week he said. He did find one cap he had in the back with a longer stem on the back. The stem that clips in was about 1/4" longer and I took it out to try it out and it snapped in perfect. We were both confused and thought maybe that there were a few dodge rims that were made a little different. Any ideas as what the problem is here and how to find the right caps? Here are a couple pics of the caps I bought. Need some with a longer snap in back.

I don't want to glue anything. Just want the right caps.

I've heard that putting some silicone on the the caps and then putting them on the wheel will prevent them from falling off.

The thing is these wont even snap on. They just sit right on top loose. They fit the other 20's though which take the same cap.

The cap that I tried at the dealer ship that worked had a longer lip on the back that was actually a SRT10 viper Ram center cap.

Did you check your dust caps? Also, if you don't already have them you may need spacers.

So can't you just order 4 STR-10 caps?

I could get some SRT10 caps but they don't come in chrome.

They do sell "chrome" spraypaint at like Wal-Mart and stores like that. I'm sure it looks nothing like real chrome, but it may be worth a shot since it's just the small center cap.
