Angry New Transmission Problem

My tranny went out on my 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 so i bought a rebuilt one from a company in phoenix. Im having a guy install it form me and when he installed it and test drove it my truck was starting out in 2nd gear not 1st but everything is fine other than that.
What is wrong with it? Is it something little that he can fix quick or did i get a bad transmission? Please answer

I'd have him fix it, and he'd better do it for free. If you paid for a transmission, rebuilt or not, you should get a transmission, not 3/4 of one. Not sure on how long it will last, depends on the guy doing it, but I'd force him to make it 100% perfect out of the shop.

i just got mine rebuilt and it was trying starting out in 2nd on the test drive because it was getting too hot due to an inferior trans cooler. the radiator style cooler fixed it. tell him to check the temp if he hasn't already.

I don't know much about transmissions but a member MonteC is very knowledgeable with them.

I was suggested this transmission when I replace mine in the future. The stage 2. \/\/

I know that the Governor Pressure Sensor and Solenoid help to control the 1-2 shifting patterns. It could be that these are bad, but I would think that with buying a rebuilt trans that they would replace these since they commonly fail.

If you get the trouble codes read off the truck then it should come up if it is one of the things I mentioned. I don't think that it will actually throw a CEL though, it will just be there in the background.

yeah, I think if there is an issue in the trans it will throw a code but not set off the CEL.

I had heard a while ago that the CEL will only come on if whatever the code is can be threatening to your health and/or emissions

Could be a worn out valvebody or bad GP and GPS solenoids. This is why I discourage buying transmissions over the internet.
