i figured if i got 6 mpg more with the hughes/edelbrock intake...id be saving about $25 a tank at around $2.20 a gallon. so.....24 tanks before it would pay for itself in gas mileage....not bad if that 6 mpg increase is as real as they say it is.

i don't know what kind of gains you get. but what i would to to save some money, is buy the mopar intake from summit
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
and the throttle body adapter from hughes
http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...2&partid=25410
that is around $435 but that's my opinion

Aim4squirrels already has the intake similar to the current intake.

The Mopar intake is the M1. You will lose your low end and the driveability of your truck. It is more for high RPM racing and high end horsepower.

I have the Version 1.0 Edlebrock FI air gap. It's probably the same exact performance, 6 mpg's has got to be BS. I might have gotten maybe .5~1 mpg, but I'm not running stock heads, TB or exhaust.

Lemme punch some numbers....

Hughes Plenum Fix:$86
Intake gaskets and bolts:$52
180 Thermostat:$9
Cloyes double roller Timing set:$46
Timing cover gasket set:$18
Oil Filter:$6
Oil:$21
Dremel attachments for modded keg:$40

Total:$280
From what it sounds like, that would put you in the same place as a FI Airgap.

BTW.....My next project!

No, I just like saving money. Hey, if you want to throw $600 in our economy for an American made product, Be my guest. Hopefully all of those parts are American made; If not, I'm sending 'em back!
Of course, I could also get a Hughes towing camshaft with the $300 I saved.

Hey, Its better to be a Smart-*** than a Dumb-***.
