I was gonna ask the very same question. Mine you can hear it kick on for about ten seconds then off for about ten seconds then back on again over and over and over. I'm hoping that feron is all it needs. Hopefully someone has been there and done that and will let us know.

I asked this same question awhile back. I was told that it is normal, but that if it seems like it is louder or more frequent, you might need a system recharge. I'm going to take mine in for a check to see if it needs anything.

Silver_Dodge would you post here again once you get it checked out and let us know the outcome. I believe Macnjets was doing it no matter whether he had the selector set on air or not. Mine only does it when it's set for air. It's still Winter up here in the north country so won't be needing it for a couple of months yet. Just wanted to get it figured out before the need did arise.

Also, what the cost would be for having it recharged if in fact that is all it needs.
Thanks again.

Sure, but not sure when i'll get it checked out. Wwhen I do, I'll report back.

FYI mine also does it no matter what setting I am on (AC, vent, heat). I was told that is normal too.

Here is the link were I asked this question on another forum.

I don't know how normal this could be. Its whether I have air selected or not and its cold here in the northeast so I don't see why it would want to kick on. Its happening too frequent, just like Big Red, every 10 to 15 seconds.

When defrost is selected, it is normal for comp to cycle like this.

Mine does the same thing as well. Does not matter what position the heater selector is in.....but it only seems to cycle on and off during idle and not at any higher rpm. I just figured it was normal to prevent the compressor seals from drying out and leaking.

The cycling of the comp is feature Dodge tried for a few years, not just on the trucks, people hated it and they dicontinued. All the symptoms are normal. At one time I knew the reasoning behind the madness I will try to find out and get back to you.
