my co-worker is having troubles with his truck hes got the 5.9 4x4 ram 2500. hes on his 4th coil pack, weve tried 4 different brands and they are lasting less and less, first lasted 5 weeks, 2nd 4 weeks, 3rd 3 weeks and this one lasted 5 miles.... What would be causing these coils to keep popping? is there a short somewhere i should be specifically looking for or is something else wrong were not seeing? just driving down the street it just falls on its face and shuts off like someone is turning the key off, and pull a spark plug wire off and its got nothing

 

The problem would be before the coil then. There isn't much going in to it. I'd trace from there back. Maybe a short somwhere.
