I know, and the numbers are also what the truck could handle on a semi regular basis. not once for 10 miles like i'm talking. if I were going 400 miles I would not want more then the 1,000 lbs or whatever the number is in the back.

I figured I would be ok... I just wanted some more reassurance from others. I have seen a ton put in other peoples 1500 pickups.

but it's another thing when its YOUR baby sagging and creaking as that load is being dropped in.....

plus I thought it would make for some good conversation.

More than 2 girls at a time is probably too much for me, so 2 fat chicks sounds about right...

I've hauled roughly 2300 pounds worth of palleted wood chips in mine before. Had about a 30 mile drive home. Truck was squated way way down, but I just took it easy and left about three times the stopping space I normally use. Course nothing but "E" load range tires go on any of my vehicles.

yall want to talk about squatting, i got a bobcat from about 25 miles away when it was almost dark, the guy that put it on the trailer parked it too far in front of the axles and it had my truck way down there, i had to cut my fog lights on just to get some light on the road.
that taught me a lesson though: always load your own trailer.
i think the tractors are what did my tranny in too. the 1500 5.2 doesn't like dragging 9-10000lbs for 30ish miles.

I've had 2 tons of rock in the bed of mine before, and it was bad. Didn't sqaut too bad, but the P265 safari tires on the truck were pancaked pretty bad. The back end was swimming, and braking was less than stellar. Only had about a mile to go though so it did alright.

Wouldn't reccomend more than 1500 pounds in a 1500 for more any prolonged period of time.

i put 4 yards of mulch in my truck last month, it weighed just over 3k pounds, truck didnt squat too too bad, i have put alot more weight in it in the past, i have no idea what my 8 foot sander loaded down with salt/sand weighs prolly close to 5k.

this pic makes it look liike its sagging more then it is, it was in a hole when i parked.
