It'd have to be awfully thick oil, or poor clearances to make up a pressure drop due to a clearance issue. Probably the high pressure pump would be the insurance policy. Most high volume pumps run at near stock pressure.

I had the motor built at a shop I used to work for and can assure you meticulous care was taken in its assembly. If there were loose clearances I would have found them already . The second owner hasn't found any either. He is far more abusive than I am.
