Best way to move my Dodge...
i can't pick on that truck, it was a really good truck till the tranny took a dump. then got it rebuilt and it did it again. that truck is the reason i won't go to that same tranny shop.
spence, is that a dual axle trailer you were looking at? i think that gmc is somewhere around 5500 - 6000lbs and u-hauls pc didn't give them a red flag. the damn computer should have said that it was too long for the trailer though, that made me mad.

Just find a Uhaul dealer and tell them you want a car trailer to tow a car with since the car trailers are all the same size. Then put your truck on it and tow it to where your going and call it a day. Just don't tell them you towed your truck with it. The smallest car trailer axle I know of holds 3500# so double that for a car trailer and you've got atleast a 7000# rating which should haul your truck just fine. Just make sure the tires are aired up correctly and the bearings are greased on the trailer and everything works on the trailer and you will be fine.
hehe, yeah... just don't go there. i've had a helluva lot more success with fords than anything else (mostly chev)...
i'm pretty dang sure they're dual axle trailers. at this point we're just looking at driving the thing. if we DO have issues, i'll be looking at finding the nearest uhaul and telling them it's for my "car"...

i would love to, but the chances of selling it in the next 2 months are slim enough. guy i got it from had been trying for 6+ months.
Mine just turned 170,000 and we just got back from a CA round trip from Billings MT. Check your plenum for your oil leak. These engines are very dependable you would not believe what my old one was put through and it never did stop running.
I say drive it out there. I mean hell, if your moving every thing, your gonna need all the hauling space you can get. I wouldn't let the ole Dodge get too far behind the Ford just in case. Also, take a basic tool set and a tow strap just in case..... You never know that Dodge might just have to move that Ford
No better time to turn up the heat on the deal!
