Default Axle swap questions???

I have a 99 half ton short bed with the Chrysler 9.25 in it right now. I lifted the truck and began running 37's on it when I noticed various leaks. Well in the process of fixin them, I was in the rear end and noticed my limited slip was destroyed. Now I am looking for a dana 60. I picked one up out of a 78, 2500 Ford, but it was about 8-12 inches too short. Anyone ever done this mod on one of these trucks and found a 60 long enough to do it and what did it come out of?

A "bolt in" fit, if it could be called that, would be a D-60 out of a Dodge There are two minor issues, the second being that yoke should be a different size. The biggie is that 3/4 ton and up Rams also use a 3 inch wide spring, so you will need to fab new mounts. You could swap the springs but you'll need the shackles, stc off the larger truck. Adapting the pads is easier.
You'll be able to adapt a 14 bolt GM as well, but it takes a bit more effort. Pavement Sucks is a good source of information on this swap. I recommend using thier forum search on this before posing any questions.

EDIT: you might plan on swapping the front diff as well. The factory D-44 doesn't like 37's and if you off-road....eh, you'll find out soon enough.

I swaped a 60 in the rear of mine. It was from a 94 3/4 ton dodge. Mine bolted right up no prob. Spring size was no issue for me and im running 1500 springs. Not picken at anyone im just saying how my swap went. But you will need to go to a combo ujoint or get a 3/4 ton shaft. I lifted mine 71/2in. and had to get one made. if you do the front axle swap as well. I suggest going to a high pinion front from a Ford. Im fighting driveshaft issues right now. Just a suggestion.
