Default 94 1500 - Transsmission problems...??? overdrive..?

Hello..

I bought a 94 1500 ram.. with 202K miles on it.. has the 5.2L motor... When I bought it, everything worked as far as shifting... It was leaking fluid massively.. so i changed the fluid and the filter.. and now.. it's not going into overdrive.. sometimes... it's sluggish on shifting.. I'm mostly concerned with why it's not going into overdrive.. i don't get any lights or anything.. and like i said, before i changed the gasket.. and filter, it was working.. i was just having to put fluid in it ever day.. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.....!!

Well, did you fix the source of the leak, was it just a pan gasket ?

What color was the fluid you took out? If it was dark dark reddish or brown or silverish and possibly black you would be seeing signs of a failing transmission. There is the possibility that by changing the fluid completely that if it is on it's way out you removed the granules of friction material that were helping it continue to operate. I have seen it before where someone comes in and says my fluid looks bad and they do the fluid/filter routine and the next day they are back saying that the trans doesn't work anymore. Oh another thought is what kind of fluid did you put back in it? From what I have heard is that if you don't use atf+4 then you are gonna have problems. I only know that from what I have read on here but these guys are pretty knowledgeable with these transmissions.
