I dunno about 30 or 40, but a good steady pace would be the best way. Hitting the water too fast is like belly floppin' in your local pool. That can also be tough on fan blades and get water in your air filter.
My guess is there was flowing water through there at one time that eroded the bottom and left debris behind.

 

Yeah lol. You'll also want to take the aircleaner off and run an open throttle body for extra power. At least you won't ruin your air filter when you hydrolock your engine

ok, so maybe that would be a little fast but you get what i'm saying, creeping in won't get you across with open diffs. and it looked like he was in about the deepest part of the hole anyway.

 

Speaking of diffs, do they make one for out trucks like the Jeep, that functions as an LSD, but you can also lock it? I'm not sure if it's a vacuum lock or electric, but it's lockable. I read that it was an option on Wranglers at one point.

They do make them, but to my knowledge, no one makes one for the 9.25. ARB makes probably the best air lockers, but not any for the 9.25 application (I checked when my Auburn went out, but couldn't find one, so I put in another Auburn). Just another reason to change our your axles.

Check with Randy's though, they would know for sure.

 

I believe I was going about 10-15 mph in 4 low, and lots of lower vehicles made ok before me (except for a Ranger). I wouldn't have tried this with my FIPK or open A/C though. Glad I had the factory setup.

The second hole was a bit deeper and had already high centered a Jeep rubicon (what a sight to see with all four locked wheels spinning helplessly!) It was bumper deep a second later. Again steady and quick at the end...

 

Yeah I think lack of sleep clouded my judgment a little. My friend did tell me that the whole was only a foot deep, but he didn't include the giant ruts left by other vehicles in his measurement And no that wasn't the deepest part, there was a rut on the opposite side of the hole that was above my waist (yes I fell in).

BTW, my windows and door locks are fine. I guess the locks and window motors don't work when the door is open (Wow, I really need some sleep)
