Post Gears will they fit/ How hard to install

I Found these(http://completeoffroad.com/i-369366-...kage-4-56.html) I want to make sure they will fit in my dana 44 and 9.25? I have plans do get 33" with a 3" lift I know 4.56 will be over kill. But ehh more fun. How hard are they to put in? Dose that kit have every thing that is needed. I have a friend who went to auto school a few years ago. He does all his own work on his 04 ram and since he's out of work in the iron workers union I thought I would throw him some cash. So how much should I give him? Will they fit? Anything else I need to know?

Replacing gear sets requires some special tools (a housing spreader, for one) and some specialized knowledge on how to set backlash and pinion shimming. It is not the kind of thing a general mechanic can do without having done it before. Better to leave it to someone who knows what they're doing.

Hey Miami, Does the 9.25 require a case spreader? I am not overly familiar with that differential. You are spot on though on leaving it to someone who does it on a regular basis. I have the tools to do it and the experience of doing it several times over the years and it is still no fun to do. does the pinion on the 9.25 use shims or a crush sleeve?

I'm not sure all the specifics (tools, techniques, etc.) involved with a gearing change, but I guess a Dana 44 is somewhat harder to change than a Chrysler 9.25.

Everywhere I got quotes from for changing my gears (just labor), I got usually around $300-$400 for the rear Chrysler 9.25, and $500-$600 for the front Dana 44.

pretty accurate.

And generally speaking, cast iron housings dont need a spreader.

What do you think turn around time will be? I like to leave my truck at the shop the night before so they can start working on it 1st thing.

I was told by various shops approximately 5 to 6 hours for the rear Chrysler 9.25, and approximately 6 to 7 hours for the Dana 44.

that kit is correct, with ring/pinion and master/complete install kit (bearings).

try here for better pricing. they're mostly jeep, but also have dodge stuff.
