4.10 gear in my 98
I need some help figuring out what all I need in order to replace my whole differential with the 4.10 gears. Here is a link to the website that has everything I guess I need.

What parts do I need to replace the whole thing?

That's why I asked him the question I did. Based solely on how the original question was worded, I could tell that he probably isn't going to be able to do a gear install himself. I could be wrong, so no offense terranova. Have you called any shops about installing?
I'm not doing the work myself -_- My girlfriends uncle is going to do it for me. He has been working on Dodge Trucks for 20+ years and he's the only authorized viper mechanic in northern California
which is a neat fact to me. I'm just buying all the stuff and he's going to install it all for me.

That's going to be a money saver for sure. Just call up Randy's and ask them what you need. Those guys know more then anyone on this site. You'll need to do both differentials if your truck is a 4x4. You'll need an install kit. If you go with a thick gear, you won't need a new carrier. I like Yukon gears myself.

Then he should know what he needs. Often, when it comes to shimming and setting ring gear/pinion gear backlash, you won't know until you get in there. Sometimes, painting the ring gear and seeing the tooth alignment is required to determine proper shimming. This can even involve driving the vehicle for a number of miles. Talk to the uncle and see what he says. Just because a guy is an engine genius does not mean he knows how to work on axles. This is often specialized work beyond the abilities of the average mechanic. Just like transmissions. And there's also the special tools required. Does he have them?
