Bring the truck up my way for the emissions test after you fix the u-joints. I know for a fact that you would pass with no muffler. Most if not all of the diesels up here are muffler delete. I think the only ones I know of with mufflers on them are the 08 and 09 fords cause of the regen stuff.

Well another option would be to find a crooked inspector. I have a local guy that I just call him up and tell him how many miles I have on truck, and remind him of the year. Then I just go pick up the piece of paper.

Luckily i don't have to deal with emission tests where i live... its a good thing because my Cummins is tuned up and dumps black smoke ... very useful tool when you get tailgaters.
Also I know in some areas if you can pass the truck as a rual vehicle they don't make you get an emissions test. I think you have to own ten acres or more or have a certian number of livestock... not positive but it might be something to look into.
