The manufacturer is out to only make a profit. If they put the best that could be made on to start with there would be no market for aftermarket parts. If it can save a buck that's a buck in profit they can charge. If your statement were true the heads would be ported from the factory.

 

I wouldn't mind a small trade off. More mpg a little less HP/Torque is fine with me. I'm not looking to make this a tire burner, just something more efficient. In the end I wouldn't mind doing an engine swap(with what I don't know) or even a rebuild. Just right now the simple things are what I can afford.
