Exclamation 00 5.9 " Want More Power"

I have a 00 1500 with a 5.9L. I've been looking at superchips and i was wondering if someone could tell me the differnce between a Superchip "Flashpaq 3865" and a Superchip "Cortex 3950" ? Or if someone has an idea of a better chip or programmer? Thanks for the help!

In terms of which is better, it really depends on what you want to do to your truck.
Are you going to keep it stock, or are you planning some heavy mods down the road?
For heavy mods, an SCT tuner seems to be your best bet.
As for the difference in the SC models here is what their website says: https://www.superchips.com/#pn=onlinestore&cs=catalog

The cortex just seems to be a glorified flashpaq to me.

I dont want to go to crazy with the mods.... just trying to get some extra power to tow/haul stuff with. i think the cortex is basicly the same thing, just a couple different colors! lol

Yea more less. I think that model has a color screen too. They do state that there are some higher gains to be had with the cortex, but I don't think you would see it on your truck.
Oh, and don't forget the $70.00 price difference either.

IIRC, the Cortex will not work for our trucks. It is for 4.7L, 5.7L Hemi, and the Cummins (5.9L), not our 5.9L gas V8s. I may be missing some other models that it works on, but I know for 99% certainty it will not work on our 5.2L or 5.9L V8 gas engines.

The only tuner that Superchips has that currently works for our trucks is pretty much the 3865. It replaced the 3815, which had replaced the 3715, and etc.

Like others stated, the SCT is better if you plan on major upgrades/modifications, otherwise the Superchips will be OK.

Well when you go to SC's website, and go to the online shopping page, you can enter in your vehicle info. I did his at a 2000 5.9, and it lists the cortex as a tuner option. Dunno if that's right or not....

Interesting. 2001 Dodge Rams with the 5.9L V8 only have the Flashpaq offered, but 1999 and 2000 models have the 3950 offered as well.

I'm going to get Superchips Tom involved here, see if he can clear this up.
