i'm in the same boat as bigskymike but mine has been making the same noise he described for years and it hasn't changed. only does it at very low speeds and stopped in drive, usually after it's warmed up. my pulleys are all good. i believe my noise is coming from the spring in the tensioner rubbing the plastic in the tensioner. i've never given it any lube but now that this thread came around i think i might do that just to see if i can shut it up.

The spring will not rub the pulley. It's down in the arm. Take the belt off and make sure it travels freely past where it has been tensioning the belt. They tend to get froze up at that point and won't put enough tension on the belt.

Oh, I obviously thought you meant the pulley itself.

yeah my old one would stay where you pushed or pulled it. there for a little while before i got a new one i'd reach in there and grab it and yank it out so it wouldn't be too loose. and i got a new pully for the used one i bought just so i'd know for sure that i had a good bearing on it. the old one spins free but feels like its lacking grease a little bit.
