Default debating between mods

1994 dodge ram 1500, 5.2L, 4x4, auto tranny, 3" body lift, 31" tires(yes wimpy but i want to re-gear first)

alright im starting to save for mods.. i wanna make a beast of a truck. so im thinking either 4.56 or 4.88 gears and should i put posi in front diffential or keep it a locker, dont talk about gas mileage cause i dont care haha.. but what im thinking is should i add a 3" suspension lift to my 3" body or a 5" or 7" lift, also should i buy aftermarket or stock steering gear and pump?

Keep the locker, limited slip/posi doesn't work well in the front. If you're going big rubber then I'd do some hop-up work. Even with good gearing it still takes some hp to turn those big, heavy meats.

What size tires do you plan or running? 4.56's are good for 35 and 4.88 are good for 37. I plan on doing is 33 with 4.56's with a detroit locker in the rear. I'll leave the front open so I can steer off road better. Do the gears first unless you want to shell out for a new tranny. Than bigger rubbers and lift. Thats how I would do it.

***** enlargement, oh wait, wrong forum....

Gears hands down, it'll take the load off the tranny and buy you some wiggle room for other mods before you have to go reinforced tranny. If you're on the fence, or in between gearset ranges, go with the numerically larger gear set. You'll kick yourself if you don't.

its going to be hard to get alot of power if trying to put a big lift on a big mocho tires, less if you lift a lil and go all out on the motor
