Default 97 Ram, 5.9L, Rebuild options?

a Friend of mine has a 97 ram with the 5.9L in it, It has about 186k on it, He loves the truck, and dosnt want to get rid of it.

He wants to rebuild the engine a little better than stock, What would be the best options? He wants to have the the block acid dipped and the cylinders bored a little over, and have all the most important stuff replaced ( Keeping crank, heads and what not) but replacing valves, valve springs, pistons rings, bearings, oil and water pump head studs

Check the heads for cracks and rebuild them. No need to bore the block unless he wants to stroke it, but IMHO, trucks are for hauling cargo, not for hauling a-ss. A Fastman Throttle Body is an excellent mod, and while he's at it, port/polish the heads for better breathing.
