Our trucks and chips usually don't get along, as you may have gathered from dakotas_ram and Purpl's posts. There have actually been issues with some chips causing more harm than good.

Tuners are usually just a few more dollars and are far better. You get the versatility of multiple tunes (Superchips for ex., SCT if you want to really get serious), and the ability to read/clear trouble codes and adjust your tire size when you upgrade/downgrade your tires, so your speedo is accurate.

The Superchips, for ex., has a Performance tune for 91 octane fuel, a Towing tune for 91 octane fuel, and a Economy performance tune for 87 octane fuel.

Before you do anything along these lines, make sure your plenum gasket is in good shape. Oil in the fuel and increased timing from a tuner = ping city.
