Default new ac compressor

97 1500. I am installing a new ac compressor. It states on the box that it has no oil. Do I need to add oil before I drive it too the shop and have it pulled down and charged?

No! It won't run without 134a anyway, so your good to go.

As long as the clutch doesn't engage the internal pistons shouldn't move. No refrigerant
should keep the pressure switch from turning it on but just keep the dash switch off to be safe.
