I'm all for looks, within reason.
"Blacked out tail lights" seems like quite an oxymoron, and an invitation to be rear ended, leaving a highly uncool looking busted up rear end.

Nah, they light up fine. I do it for looks, and they DO look awesome. I have seen some though that dont light up worth a damn, but if you do it right and put a nice clearcoat on, sand it down and polish it to look smooth and shiny, then the light passes through easier. Plus, it looks much nicer than a faded looking black brake light.

I personally just went with the tail light cover option. I've got the ram covers and I love them. Granted they stick out about 1/8" off the light and you can tell it is a cover, but they were easy as **** to install and relatively inexpensive.

xray99 its not like you paint them black and don't see **** through them. Its just tints them. I have seen tons of people do it and have no problems

rebhays just google i theres alot of info on it the only place iv found nite shade is at orilleys autozone wont carry it correct me if im wrong
but if its done correctly it looks good and is functional
