Default Rear Differential Housing Question

I looked at my rear diff. housing yesterday and noticed that some of it appears "wet", as if it might be leaking fluid. It's not much, just a little. Most of it is on near the bottom and near the UV joint that connects to the drive shaft.

I know this is a difficult question to answer without seeing it, but is some of this normal, or should I be concerned?

I had a Chevy Tahoe that had rear axle problems and it made a noise when I drove so I knew it was bad.

With this truck, I don't notice a noise, just the fluid on the housing.

thanks,
pf

Check the lube level. If it looks to be coming out at the flange where the driveshaft attaches it is the pinion seal.

+1 check your fluid and keep it full. a minor leak won't hurt anything as long as you keep it full.
