Worst Stuck

I guess i'll tell my story. We were throwing a going-away party for one our Gunnies. We were getting pretty hammered and all of us were still awake. so we all decided to go offroading at 2am. we were going down this powerline and it abruptly ended at the road and crossed...well, it was either go backwards, or go through a huge ditch about 4 feet deep. me being my intoxicated self, decided i could go through a 4 foot ditch in my ram lol. silly me. had to have a chevy avalanche pull me out with a crappy dog chain that broke twice and we had to "tie" together lol. from what i remember, thats when my transfer case finally bit the dust as well...crappy timing.

ohh man.. wish I still had some of my old pics.
I have two good ones... one some of you may remember if you read 4x4 about 10 years ago.
the truck - 84 s10 ext cab short box 3 inch body lift 400 sb Headers into twin cherry bombs right under the passenger jump seat and 32" tires. front torsion bars cranked to put the front about an inch higher then the back. ARB air lockers front and welded spool in back.
the pit - somewhere in northern mid west Michigan.
the story... few guys going through a week before with 44's tore it up good, then add rain for about a week. and the mud was just calling my name. I was up with two other buddies, one a CJ on 35's the other a basically stock s10 of the same vintage.
I ran through the "safer" areas a few times having fun and busted the back wiring harness leaving me with no tail lights... finally grew some ***** and picked a line in the deeper mud.. got through it twice and chose my next run an area i had gone a few times a month or so ago. put it into 4 low and opened up the motor, throwing mud everywhere, and I was just about to make it to terra firmer when BAM truck stops. put it into reverse get the back tires back onto terra firmer and front end drops and I cant go anywhere...
the Jeep and s10 tried for about an hour to get me out, a ranger and a F150 (I knew the f150 driver) come by talk all types of junk about anything other than a ford, give them a shot... no luck, they leave with my buddy in the s10 so he can get some gas and try to wrangle heavy equipment. while he is gone another s10 shows up and he tries with the jeep, the jeep doing short tugs while the s10 slow and steady pull. at the same time both trucks have simultaneous breakdowns... s10 lost the tranny, jeep broke a u rear joint. it is now almost dark, we pull the Jeeps driveshaft, hook up to the disabled s10, and put a strap around a tree, a comealong to that strap and the strap attached to my tow rings.... glad we did.
it rained again that night, didn't realize on top of that, I had left the truck in a sink hole. next morning we get there, my frame is on terra firmer, the rear tires are off the ground, and my truck is sunk over the front and about half way up the hood. (the shot that first made it into the mag) this time we came with a friend of a friend and his beat up early 60's big old ford with a winch. he, chained his truck to the biggest tree he could find, then straped his winch to my tow rings. about ten minutes later we hear a sucking sound and a crash as the back of my s10 returns to earth.... took another 15~20 minutes and the rest of the truck is out of the hole....
The loss - Brand new carpet I had just installed a few weeks before, wiring harness for the tailights, Bent front a-arm, cracked front diff, 1 cherry bomb, spedo cable, windshield, vent fan motor, and I never did find my BDS skid plate, on the way home i recieved one ticket for speeding, and one ticket for unsafe vehicle (back lights and spedo not working)
mind you we had 5 trucks try to get my truck out without succsess. it took 1 toothless old man with 1 arm, and 1 old ford to get me out.... (the second picture that ended up in the mag three months later) and he laughed like a mainiac the whole time

Found this one of a 2nd gen. Remember, kids, always test the depth of the water with a stick before attempting to cross.
