Exclamation truck wont start

Get in my ram this morning and it wont start. Trucks been running great until this morning, drove around last night and it was completely fine.

I can hear the fuel pump engage when the key is turned, then when fully turned i only hear a click but no turn over. Ive got power...but i double checked the voltage on the battery. Running at 12.4-12.5, seemed kinda low ( usually at 14.4-.5) but that should well be enough to kick over my ram, right?

Ideas??? I gotta get to work tomarrow!

try tapping on the side of the starter with a hammer.
also try removing cables and cleaning battery terminals.

12.x is about right for truck not running. 14.x is normal for alternator output.

yeah. if battery is good, cables clean, and power is getting to the starter and it still won't turn. sometimes a few taps on the side will free it up. not too hard... and not on the end where the aluminum castings are.

Well, my dad said we should jump it to be sure. Hooked up my sct also to check battery. Voltage went from the 12.4 to 13.8. Voltage meter for alt. went back up to 14. Sooo idk, i just got a new battery and alternator around feb.

Truck starts strong now, starter is kicking over well and fast.

Im confused? bad luck and got a **** battery? Or alt?

if your getting just a click, that sounds like a starter solenoid going out, mine did the same thing, replaced the stater/soleniod (its a single unit) and its started ever since
