amsoil uses
Wasn't using it for that. We used to run it our on the road vehicles. We now use Rotella in all the farm equipment, ATVs, Lawn mower, and all of the vehicles except for the 08 Avie... It has MDS so a 15-40 wont set well with it.
The rotella, we order it by the 55 gallon drum.

I personally wouldn't waste my time with Amsoil. It is good oil, but isn't any better than others. They use a multi level marketing scheme to sell it which is why you will hear people rave about it. Typically the people you hear talking it up are the same people that are trying to sell it.
You guys have never noticed "Performance Oil Technology?" They are a sponsor for Dodge Forum. Call him up and ask him about getting a discount since you are a DF member.
Hey Laramie, you have intrugued me on Roltella. I am going to start using it in all my mowers. They are the oil oil that is SAE 30 and comes in 5qt jugs at Advance AP. Too bad I bought 5qts of Quaker State 10W-30. Damn.

I used to, but I got smart and stopped spending $60+ an oil change on Royal Purpl and a K&N filter. Now I spen $30 an oil change with Valvoline SynPower and a Purolator Pure ONE filter. I acually did some research and found that Royal Purpl was not worth the extra $3 a quart. I cant believe I bought oil just for the color.
Rotella is a decent oil. More popular among the diesel guys. Since most of our equipment is diesel, and we run two diesel trucks, that's why we buy it like we do. If we didn't have all of the other equipment, I would probably be on the synthetic bandwagon, but it's hard to go and buy $30-$40 in oil, when you have a whole drum in the shop.
Sure, in our 5.2, I have no doubt that it robs me of some power, but it's nothing to write home about.
Some people worry about starting in cold weather. It doesn't get as cold down here as it does in other parts of the country, but I had no problems starting in 0* weather.

A little off topic, but I dont run synthetic, but instead for my high mileage I have been adding a quart of lucas oil to my oil changes. I just use regular valvoline oil with it. It seems to work pretty good. I also used it in my transmission when it was leaking, and it fixed the leak and also helped with smoother shifts. Does anybody else use it?
CarQuest Auto Parts sells it if you have any there stores near you. But online is generally cheaper. If you become a dealer you can buy it at cost. I am not promoting this to you I'm just stating facts. I have no financial interest in it. I like the Amsoil products. 159,000+ and it is still going strong.
