Default Do the Sport models have factory lift?

Would a 2001 Ram 1500 Sport with the offroad package have a factory lift? I'm trying to figure out what size wheel and tire I can run. It seems like there is a LOT of room in the wheelwells with the stock 245/65/16 tires. I am looking at running a 33" tire. I found a package on ebay that has 33x12.5x18's with rims that have a 4.5" backspacing. Thoughts?

The Off Road models have a 2" higher lift. Off Road models can be Sport models or not. The Sport package is just an exterior trim level and adds nothing to the suspension by itself. 33s should fit an Off Road model easily.

I'm probably wrong, but I think you are wrong! LOL The sport package is lifted 2"s (if it's a 4x4)and the off road package has 4:10 gears. And some gussets on the front axle housing to make it stronger.

Zman is wrong. The Sport package does not have a factory lift.

So they are not 2"s higher? And every one that tries to order lift kits have the problem that the kits says EXCEPT for sport model? HMM.

Again, the Sport package is merely a cosmetic option. The problem is that the Sport models have a different front bumper and things like body lift kits, headlights, grilles, winch kits and pushbars do not fit the same as on standard RAMs. Most (not all) Off Road models also had the Sport option, so some manufacturers wrongly assume that ALL Sport models are Off Road models. This is simply not true.

Ok, so just curios why I've seen so many threads on here saying that if you have a sport and buy a 3" lift let's say, you'll only actually see 1" more? Not arguing, just wondering.

If the threads say that, they're mistaken.

Off Roads who buy a 3" lift will only see 1" more.

the hot summer georgia heat must be reaching up to NH and working on zman's brain. i do believe this is the first time i've seen him miss one. 1 out of 3356 posts. not bad. plus he doesn't have a sport, so no need to know.

yeah its the goofy painted bumper and dual headlights that disqualify many parts from fitting a sport. offroad package offered in 00 and 01 (?) provide the 2" lift and much desired 4.10 gears.
