Default Jeep grand cherokee transmission work?

I need to rebuild my trans and i can pick up a 96 grand cherokee 46RE trans for cheap and rebuild it, its gotta be the same as my 96 ram trans?

As far as I know, a 46RE trans is the same in either the jeeps or the rams. I would get a second opinion, but I think your good!

What about the trans out of a 96 dodge ram van with the 5.2? The auto trans is the same for the 5.2 and 5.9 correct?

a 46re is the same as every other 46re. A few had different cases or mounting points. For that you just have to compare them.

The transmission from that Jeep is a 44RE, not a 46RE. 1993-1995 ZJ's with the 5.2 used the 46RH, and 1996-1998 used the 44RE. Only 46RE available in the ZJ's was the 1998 5.9L Limited model.
